Wayne Elementary Boosters hosted a Journey to Outer Space at the fourth-annual Valentine Son Dance on Friday, Feb. 2 at Wayne Elementary School.
The results were out of this world with $6,000 raised and 321 tickets sold, the most ever in WEB’s four-year dance history. In addition, 90 businesses, parents, and teachers donated auction items, and over 40 parents donated food or time to help.

The evening offered dancing to music by PinMonkey Entertainment, a photo booth by Laura Robinett of LMB Visual Creations, candid photos by Wayne State College student Ellie Thuy Tran, and outer space desserts, including a chocolate fountain and “Eclipse Cookies.”  Fourth grader Austin Heiser won the raffle for Husker football tickets. The Hoskins Challenge set a record and raised over $250. At the Feb. 25 school assembly, over 70 boys will duct tape Mr. Hoskins to the wall and three boys will throw a pie in Mrs. Hoskins’ face.

Together with both dances, WEB raised over $11,000, a 12 percent increase from last year. WEB looks forward to investing these funds back into Wayne Elementary to support its students, staff and families. WEB also thanks the community for its generous support of these priceless experiences.

Upcoming WEB events this spring include Runza Night on March 20, Staff Appreciation Week April 30-May 4, Bike to School Day May 11, and the Book Giveaway May 17.
