Wayne Elementary Boosters went “To The Moon And Back” for the fourth-annual Holiday Daughter Dance this past Friday at the elementary school.
More than 300 people made it the biggest turnout in the event’s four-year history and raised $5,300 to support students and staff at the school. WEB sold 312 tickets and had support from 90 businesses, organizations, parents and teachers who donated auction items, along with more than 40 parents donating food or their time to help out.
The girls and their dads or father figures enjoyed an evening of music provided by PinMonkey Entertainment’s Thom and Julie Osnes. Angie Rethwisch provided a photo booth for posed shots and Shona Junck took a variety of candid photos (which are shown below). Desserts, a chocolate fountain and “Nebula Nectar” punch were also a hit.
The “Hoskins Challenge” raised more than $200, which means Mr. Hoskins will be duct-taped to the wall in the gym by 60 girls, and three winners will get to throw a pie in Mrs. Hoskin’s face during the school’s upcoming assembly on Friday, Dec. 22.
Lizbeth Rodriguez was the lucky winner of the raffle for Nebraska Cornhusker basketball tickets, which were donated by Steve and Cindy Flaherty.
WEB thanks the community for its support, and is looking forward to the Valentine Son Dance that will be for boys and their mothers and mother figures on Feb. 2, 2018.
