WayneAmerica.com is pleased to announce that it will begin a Student of the Week campaign in Wayne Community Schools for the 2017-18 school year.
The weekly honor is being started by the local website as a way to highlight the achievements and efforts of students in the elementary and junior-senior high schools throughout the upcoming school year.
“I wanted to have a weekly story on WayneAmerica.com that highlighted the school and some of its students, and I’m excited that we are able to bring this to the community and work with the teachers and administrators at Wayne Community Schools to give kudos to some of the best and brightest in our school system,” said Michael Carnes, publisher of WayneAmerica.com.
Teachers in both the elementary and junior-senior high school buildings will be able to nominate students who they feel are deserving of the honor, whether it be for work in the classroom, being part of a special project or helping their fellow students out in some capacity.
“When a lot of people think about kids achieving success in school, it usually has something to do with something everybody can see, like a sporting event,” Carnes said. “This is an opportunity to celebrate an accomplishment that may not otherwise be noticed by the general public, from acing the ACT test to being a helpful presence in class or even the school lunch room.”
The WayneAmerica.com Student of the Week award will begin the first week of September and run through the end of April 2018. The award is sponsored by Dairy Queen in Wayne, and winners will receive a certificate and a gift card from Dairy Queen.
