Wayne thespians compete in Tournament of Mittens

Members of the Wayne High speech team brought home a number of medal finishes from the Tournament of Mittens event Saturday in Pierce.

The Wayne High varsity squad finished fifth as a team, led by Hallie Chinn’s runner-up effort in the Informative division.

Grace Heithold finished fourth in the Poetry competition. Fifth-place efforts went to Megan Keiser in Humorous Prose, Colton Spahr in Extemporaneous, Jaci Torres and Sarah Wibben in Duet Acting, and Miranda Fehringer in Persuasive.

In JV competition, the Wayne JV team finished in second place overall, finishing two points behind the winning team, and came away with a pair of first-place efforts.

Finishing first were Christopher Woerdemann in Extemporaneous and Christopher Archer in Humorous Prose, while Walker Hochstein was second in Entertainment.

Thirds went to Dylan Anderson in Humorous Prose and the Oral Interpretation of Drama team of Anderson, Woerdemann, Isaac Davis, Walker Hochstein and Liam Spieker.

Ruben Vega finished fifth in Extemporaneous and Annika Wachter was sixth in Entertainment.
