The Wayne High speech team finished fourth out of 20 schools at Saturday’s Gator Gab-Fest held at Wisner-Pilger High School.
Wayne’s top performers were Colton Spahr, who finished second in Extemporaneous; and Jack Osnes, who won Serious Prose and earned runner-up honors in Humorous Prose.
Fourth-place finishes were earned by Megan Keiser (Humorous and Impromptu) and Christopher Woerdemann (Extemporaneous). Nate Burrows was seventh in Impromptu and Keiser was eighth in poetry.
Other finishes included:
— Oral Interpretation of Drama (Dylan Anderson, Isaac Davis, Woerdemann), 11th.
— Maura Loberg, 11th in Informative.
— Jaci Torres, 12th in Serious Prose.
— Miranda Fehringer, 16th in Persuasive.
— Grace Heithold, 17th in Poetry.
— Hana Nelsen, 20th in Informative.
Next up for the Wayne High speech team is the Mid-State Conference Meet at Battle Creek this Saturday. They round out the regular season at the Norfolk Panther Classic on Saturday, March 3.
